Hunger 

You're lost in the woods. Your best friend, Sarah, a much more capable camper and your navigator, has died from a sudden infection. You are alone, with no cell phone, no map, and no clue of how to escape. All you know is that you are desperately hungry, and there is not much to eat besides...

Hunger is an interactive story about desperation and extremes by Beverly Bates aka Solaine. It is currently being developed for a college course, but there are plans to expand it into a longer and more official game. CONTENT WARNING: Hunger contains vivid descriptions of cannibalism and gore. Player discretion is advised. 

The Game 

Interactive Story - Hunger is a slow-moving interactive horror story. Similar to a Twine game, you will read a passage and choose how you wish to proceed through the story. Visual and audio effects serve to augment the atmosphere and tension, creating a terrifying environment without the use of jumpscares. 

Matchsticks - You have a limited number of matches remaining, indicated by a counter in the bottom left corner. You are able to use matches throughout the game, but be careful, if you run out of matches, then the light fades and you succumb to the terror around you. 

Timeline

Hunger first spawned on itch.io in the early hours of December14th, 2017 with just a single working scene and a whole lotta goals. A more complete alpha build should be available around December 17-18th, with the full open beta release coming out about a month later in January. Stay tuned and watch for updates!

Release Notes

Currently Hunger is in Alpha build, meaning that it is still heavily in development. The first scene is more representative of the final product than the rest of the game, though in the final release, every scene will have background images and sound effects just like the first. In addition, you might find typos and stand-in text or images that will be replaced in the final game. Feel free to point these things out to me, but I might already know about them.
